Chasewell Playgroup – Our curriculum
Our vision is to provide an environment that motivates and inspires all children to grow and achieve and nurture each individual's uniqueness whilst helping them to find their sense of calm

At Chasewell we encourage the children to enjoy both the outdoors and indoors in equal measure and ensure we promote healthy lifestyles as well as learn about the local community through walks and visits to local park and recreational areas. It is important to us to develop a child’s self-awareness to help them be adaptable, flexible and independent in turn developing their self-regulation skills.
As part of this commitment we;
-
Provide a long term curriculum of activities based on children’s experiences, and developed from an annual survey sent to parents.
-
Provide outdoor access as a free flow, to enable the children to choose outside or inside learning. Their interests and development are planned for using both areas.
-
Track children’s development termly to ensure we have picked up on children working above or below age expectations. From this we then develop a plan individual to the child’s needs.
-
Reflect regularly on our environment and teaching, through regular peer observation, coaching, staff training (in house), meetings, and reflective practice.
-
Ensure the environment provides a calm corner where children are supported by sensitive adults to learn about their ‘window of tolerance’ and use strategies unique to the individual to increase this window over time.
-
Provide a language rich environment where visuals, signs and gesture, as well as speech, are accepted as a form of communication and encouraged.
We are keen to widen the experiences of children and ensure they feel safe and secure and ready to learn.
